Finding Revival

“O Lord, revive your work in the midst of the years…”   Hab 3:2

Our prophetic theme for 2014 is about finding revival, both personal and organizational. One certainly leads to the other, but it starts with personal revival. This should be our heart attitude as we seek God with fasting and prayer this January. Revived believers live revived lives, create enthusiastic families, on-fire churches, and better communities. I was raised in a nominal Christian home. My parents were born-again but not especially active in church. My three siblings and I drifted even farther from church during our adolescent years, living lives little different than our non-Christian peers. But at 22 years of age I experienced real revival in my life. Unhappy with where I saw my life going I finally turned to God for answers. Within a few short months he had turned me around 180 degrees! Unable to keep a lid on my new found spiritual enthusiasm, I urged everyone around me to join the party. The result was that within a year or so my parents were back in church and filled with the Spirit for the first time in their lives; my siblings renewed their own walk with God, and most of my cousins started serving God as well. In fact revival spread through our whole extended family, eventually propelling many of us into careers in full-time ministry! I don’t claim all the credit for that, of course – it was God at work. But it is amazing to think how many lives were changed and those of their children and grandchildren as well. All because of one person who got serious about God. How about you? Could you be that person?
