We would need a lot fewer miracles of healing if we would just live a healthier lifestyle in the first place.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”   Phil 4:6-7

OK, last shot at post-fasting health tips! We would need a lot fewer miracles of healing if we would just live a healthier lifestyle in the first place. Here are my own three laws of healthy living that I have followed for years:

1. Eat Smart. Nothing affects our health more than what we consume. I believe that every physical ailment can and should be treated first by analyzing and adjusting what we eat. Eating smart means being informed, selective, and self-controlled about what you eat. You can read more in Food Rules!, but basically it’s about eating less, eating fresh, and eating balanced.

2. Stay Active. Poor nutrition and inactive lifestyles have overloaded our healthcare system and made pharmaceutical companies into international power-brokers. We weren’t designed to sit and look at video screens all day! If we don’t get enough exercise we are just asking for health problems. The easiest thing for anyone to do is simply walk. Walk. A brisk walk for 15 minutes a day will do wonders! Look for ways to walk – take the stairs, park father away – but do it. For the rest of your life.

3. Be Happy. It’s no news that a major contributor to the poor health index is stress. Mental problems create physical problems. Happy people are healthier people. Sadly many Christians are as stressed as the rest. If we would walk by faith we would live in peace! The real key here is an effective prayer habit. God promises that if we put things into his hands through prayer, his peace will – not might – will keep guard over our minds and hearts.

Eat smart, stay active, and be happy!
