- Give people an exciting service
Start with an big bang and end with a grande finale. Eliminate dead space in the program. Add an element of surprise to every service. - Give people better preaching
Read a good book on homiletics once a year. It’ll sharpen your saw. Prepare series of sermons rather than ‘ad hoc’ hit and miss preaching. Read and/or listen to great preachers regularly. Take notes. Ask for regular feedback from selected listeners. - Give people great music
Aim for excellence with your music consistently. Adapt your music to the people you want to reach, but switch it up once in a while. Variety is the spice of life. Keep it familiar enough to be familiar but fresh enough to be fresh. - Give people a choice
One size really doesn’t fit all, especially in a world that offers more and more choices in everything from coffee to other churches. Work hard to provide optional services, programs, and opportunities to get involved. - Give people a voice
Typical church programming is all one-way: we talk – they listen. Give people a chance to share their story, their testimony, their views and their revelations. You might be surprised! - Give people a smile
Church should be a happy place, right? Make people laugh out loud at least once every service. If they walk out the door with a smile on their face, they’ll be back and their friends with them. - Give people hope
Make it your goal to give every attender an injection of hope. Convince them that God is on their side and if anything can go right it probably will, and it’ll happen to them!
