“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live”  Jn 11:25

Christianity starts with, stands upon, and celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. You could say it is God’s signature. Whenever you see resurrection you can be sure that you’re dealing with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And Job. And Elijah. And Elisha. And Lazarus. And Peter. And Paul. And John. And so on. Revival is the twin sister of resurrection. Both are about bringing something back from the dead. Imagine the grief and the irretrievable sense of loss – of finality – that must have gripped Mary and Martha and their family when it was clear that their brother was dead. Dead and four days in the tomb. But that all that changed when Revival arrived! “I am the Resurrection” appeared! Of course, as believers, we all look for the resurrection at the last day. But in the meantime we can live every day in “the power of his resurrection.” This means that no matter how bad it looks – it’s not too late! No matter how hopeless – there is more than enough reason to hope! That even when there is no way – there is a way! No matter how dead – it can live again! Revival certainly entails a new level of commitment to God. But that is only the doorway to a resurrected life! If you have lost hope, Christ can resurrect it. If your faith has died, God can bring it back to life. If the love you once had is gone – it’s not too late! Revival brings you back to life along with all your hopes and all your dreams. As you seek God with fasting this January don’t just put in time praying. Pray until the resurrection power of God begins to flow through your veins once again!
